Is it open all year?
Yes, we're open all year long.
Where can I find it?
Our School is mobile, so everyday we search for the best spot for our students to surf, but you can find us frequently at Praia do Cabedelo, Viana do Castelo (in front of Luziamar, that big burned out building).
How do I get there?
Usually, we try to take the school to you. If you book a lesson and need a ride to the beach, we can take you with us (máx 8p). In case you want to meet us at the regular spot (Praia do Cabedelo, in front of Luziamar) you can come by ferry boat (takes about 10 min) or by bus.
Oporto's Francisco Sá Carneiro airport is the nearest about 40 min distance and with low cost flights to/from most European Countries. There's also Vigo Airport, in Spain, about 1 hour away.
Are there changing rooms at the beach?
There's parking lot, bathrooms and public showers at most of the beaches we surf.
Where's the closest place with internet?
We have our own wi-fi network. Feel free to use it.
I'll be in Viana for a long period of time/studying/working... Are there any discounts?
Yes, in case you're spending a long period of time in Viana (traveling, working, erasmus...) we have some special offers. Get in touch for more info.
Are there any discounts for larger groups?
Yes, there are discounts for groups between 6-8 people. Contact for more info.
I don't have a surfboard or wetsuit... Can I do it?
For sure, we provide all the gear you need to surf and enjoy!
Is it a problem if I don't know how to swim?
Part of our job is to help you make the transition to the aquatic environment. So no, that won't be a problem at all.
What's the best age to start? Is there a limit?
The best age to start is as soon as possible and we believe age is not a limitation for those who really want to learn how to surf.
I'm not fit, and don't do a lot of sports... Can I still do it?
Yes, even tough surfing is such a demanding sport, we can adapt it so it becomes accessible to everyone.
I'm on a wheelchair/I have some kind of disability... Is it possible to do it?
Yes, and we'd love to share it with you. Send us a message for more details.
What kind of conditions should I expect from the local beaches?
Most of the beaches around town are sand bottom with different peaks spread along.
So, how does a surf lesson really work?
When you get to the beach, you'll see our van and your teacher waiting for you. You'll dress up your wetsuit and when you're ready, you'll help getting the boards waxed for the surf. Then we head to the beach, where we start by warming up. In case it's your first time, after warm up you'll have some time on land learning the theory about the basic techniques and safety of surfing. If you have already surfed with us, after the warm up you'll get some tips/advices for the surf session and then you head in. You'll always have a coach inside the water making sure you catch waves and helping you with instant feedback. By the end of the session, you clean up your gear, and you'll be ready to eat for sure...
